Subi East: Heritage, Art and Culture Tours

Join us for a special tour created for the Australian Heritage Festival!

This year’s theme, Change, invites us to explore the transformation of Subi East - a rejuvenation project incorporating the former Princess Margaret Hospital (1909) and Subiaco Oval sites. Join us as we uncover how these historic landmarks have been reimagined into vibrant public spaces for us all to enjoy. 

The guided walk traverses the Six Season Bidi Trail, connecting us to Noongar culture through contemporary sculptures, winds through the majestic Weeping Peppermint trees of Mueller Park. Together, we’ll discuss the history of these important sites and share the stories that have shaped them. This is a wonderful opportunity to see heritage gems reimagined through thoughtful design, celebrating the intersection of urban history, storytelling, art and the natural world.

Sessions: 

Starting location: The Old Outpatients Building - the white bungalow heritage building on the corner of Thomas and Hay Street. Part of 1909 (former Princess Margaret Hospital Site)

Finishing location:  Subiaco Oval Gates, corner Townshend and Roberts Road. Close to Subiaco’s wonderful venues, shops and street art to further enjoy the area.

Accessibility: The tour covers approximately 1.3km at a leisurely pace. The route is on flat terrain and is accessible for people using wheelchairs, prams and other mobility aids. Please inform us of any requirements when booking.
